“For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish.”
Do you like perfume? Many people do. Perfume is a mixture of fragrant essential oils or aromatic compounds, fixatives and solvents used to give the human body, animals, objects and living species a pleasant scent. For centuries, long before the beginning of recorded civilization, people gathered fragrant plants and extracted the scent to add delight to their lives. The sense of smell, which is sometimes taken for granted, affects several different areas of our lives, sometimes positively, sometimes negatively. The difference is often indicated by the word that is used to describe the smell. For instance, the words odour, stench and sometimes even the word smell itself, have a negative connotation. On the other hand, the words aroma, fragrance, and scent are almost always used in a positive way.
Believers are, to God, the fragrance of Christ. We are to spread abroad the heavenly fragrance of Christ wherever He leads us. This fragrance consists of our clear testimony, our radiant lives and dissemination of the knowledge of God everywhere and to everybody.
Challenge: Let others see Jesus in you.
Prayer: Lord, I want to be like Jesus in my heart.
